What is a day at Casa Esperanza of Angels really like? | May 2021 Newsletter

For the CEA children, their day begins at 5:30 am with a wakeup call. They bathe, organize their things, make their bed, and begin their morning chores. Most days they have modular classes the majority of the morning. Life at CEAWeekday afternoons they have nap time, chores, playtime, time for washing clothes, and bible study each evening. On Saturdays they have bible studies, chores, and playtime. Each Sunday we have Sunday school before a morning worship service, naps and playtime in the afternoon, and then a Sunday evening bible study.

For house parents, their day begins at 5:30 am when the children get up for the day. Their day consists of managing and caring for the children 7 days a week. They must prepare meals, wash clothes, keep their homes maintained, and deal with various issues with the children. They must also do behavioral charts, marketing, financial records, and other reports. Even after the children go to bed around 8:30 pm their day is not over. They are finishing up their daily reports, making sure the children are safe/asleep for the night, and preparing for the next day.

For management, Ron & Gigi, it is long hours 7 days a week. A typical morning has Ron & Gigi ready to begin the day by 7:30 if not sooner. Ron begins checking emails, checking on construction workers, making sure the day is beginning according to plans. Gigi will be insuring the volunteer teachers have arrived, and some days teaching classes herself.

Management of staff, resolving children behavior problems, construction management, purchasing materials, purchasing supplies, complying with government regulations, planning events, financials, correspondence, staff meetings, and many other tasks keep them constantly busy each day.

Every day at CEA is a lot of work! For management, for house parents, and for the children to keep our home here happy and functioning properly. Thank you all for your support and donations to keep our mission going!

Work will continue on the family cottage and we are also working on the garage/shop/storage area as we are in great need of storage space. The garage/shop/storage will consist of two 20’ shipping containers with a roof over both. Our architect is nearing completion of the design work.

CEA children first egg-hunting experience

Events at CEA are never ending! Last month we had an Easter egg hunt for the children, our monthly birthday party, and were treated to afternoon snacks by the children’s dentist Dr. Sheila Catacutan as part of her birthday celebration.

Ephesians 4:1-3 (NKJV)

1I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
